2025 San Marcos Cleanup held on March 1st, 2025
Approximately 200 paddlers from all over Texas participated in the world’s longest river clean up. They picked up trash along the entire San Marcos River (90 miles) From San Marcos all the way to Gonzales. Canoeists, kayakers and rafters spent the day cleaning the river. Some volunteers on foot cleaned the bridges and riverside parks. Thanks to all our volunteers!
Paddlers participating in this event camped free at Shady Grove Campground – Spencer Canoes and at the San Marcos River Retreat. Thanks for allowing free camping! And thanks to Amigo Beach in Fentress, Palmetto Park and anyone else who allowed access!
Saturday evening a BBQ dinner was served to all the volunteers at the chapel at the San Marcos River Retreat. The brisket, chicken and sausage was smoked by George and Anne Grant. Thanks again for some great BBQ guys!
A number of folks provided desserts. We had some really exceptional dutchoven and baked goodies. Thanks to everyone who brought desserts!
For the 1st time the 2025 San Marcos River Rendezvous held a Silent Auction with new and used items. BIG THANKS to our new merchandise sponsor Columbia and the members who donated paddling items for the auction. Over $600 was raised to support TRPA.
Once again, the 2025 San Marcos Cleanup committee extends a HUGE thanks to everyone who let us use their property for access and dumpsters to dispose of the trash collected. Thank you to Guadalupe County for hauling off the trash and tires!
